So, I have been reading articles on this "$100" laptop , or XO Laptop, which doesn't actually cost $100 rather, close to $200. If you haven't heard about this little piece of technology, check out this link to their main site. I find the xo laptop really cool because it was designed with children from developing countries in mind. The One Laptop a Child (OLPC) aims to provide more opportunities for students from developing countries by exposing them to affordable technology. Technology that, for its price, can help and ultimately empower the children to learn, and also to expose them to this rapidly evolving, global information millennia. One more cool thing about it is that it has a built-in video camera, microphone, memory card slot, graphics tablet, game pad controllers, and a screen that rotates to a tablet configuration. Plus, it's spill-proof, dustproof, rain (/water) proof and drop-proof.
Starting today, November 12, the OLPC organization is selling this laptop to the US market for $400 for 2 weeks. Why $400? Because by purchasing one for yourself (your or whatever), you are also purchasing a second one to be sent and donated to one child in a developing country. A third cool thing right? Honestly, I want to get one for myself haha
